Any class announcements (including homework assignments, dates of
tests, etc.) will be posted outside my office door.

Syllabus:  Boyce & DiPrima, Elementary Differential Equations, 5th ed.
	Ch. 2 First Order Diff. Eqns.		  8 lectures
	Ch. 3 Second Order Linear Eqns.		  8 lectures
	Ch. 6 The Laplace Transform		  6 lectures
	Ch. 5 Series Solutions			2-3 lectures
	Ch. 7 Systems of 1st Order Linear Eqns.	2-3 lectures
	   [number of lectures per chapter is approximate]

Grades:	Homework (15%)  Weekly assignments from the textbook, covering
		the previous week's material, will be due on Thursdays 
		(*except* the week after a test!), at the *beginning* 
		of class. If you cannot make it to class, have someone
		slip it under my office door *before the end of class*
				NO LATE HOMEWORKS!! 
		The lowest homework score will be dropped. 
		*Collaboration* is allowed (encouraged, even), 
		but write up your solutions by yourself.
		There will also be suggested homework that you do not
		need to turn in.
	Tests (15% each)  
		Each test will take place a full week after the
		material for that test is covered.
		Ch. 2 		Thu 18 Feb. 
		Ch. 3		Thu  1 Apr.
		Ch. 6		Thu 22 Apr.
		NO MAKE-UP TESTS  (except in EXTRAORDINARY circumstances
				   and with advance notice).
	Final (40%) cumulative--Thu 13 May, 10:00am-12:45pm

If your final exam grade is higher than your course grade, your course
grade will become the final exam grade, provided you took each
of the tests during the semester, and turned in 80% of the homeworks.

Each test (including the final exam) will be curved to a 90-80-70-60
scale, with the curve announced when the test is handed back to you.
