First, save your Mathematica Notebook file on the Macintosh
desktop. Then go to the Launcher menu and click on
Internet. Then click on Fetch 2.1.2. An Open Connection box will appear. Under
Host, enter math.utep.edu and then enter the user ID and password
that you use on the Sun Network System in the designated areas. It is
not necessary to enter any information on directory, but if you
know the Sun directory in which you wish to store this file, you can
enter it. For example, /home/banach/name/mathica could be a
possible directory to store your new Mathematica file.
After the items in the Open Connection window have been
entered, click on Ok. Your banach directory from the Sun
Workstation will appear in the Fetch: math.utep.edu window. You are now able to open
the directory in which you wish to store the Macintosh file by double
clicking on it. Next, click on
the put file button to tell the computer to put your Macintosh
file into this directory on the Sun Workstation. Now, the computer will
ask which Macintosh file you wish to save in your Sun directory.
Since you stored it on the Macintosh desktop, click on Desktop, then
click on the name of the file, and then click Open. If the
Macintosh file is saved somewhere other than the desktop, find the
file and click on it. Now, the following
window appears:
Here, you enter the name under which you wish to store the file. Note that
you must double check the extension of the file. For example,
normally mathematica files to be used on the Suns must have a .nb or .m extension. Also, under
Format, make sure that Text appears. Now click on
Ok. Now your Macintosh Mathematica Notebooks file is
saved in your banach directory on the Sun System. To exit Fetch, go to
the top on the main screen on the Macintosh and go to File, and
select the Quit option.
Now, to access this file on the Sun Network, type the
command
mathematica on any command tool line and Mathematica
Notebooks will open. Then go to File, select the Open option and
enter the file you wish to open. Similarly, the notebook files can be
accessed by going to File and choosing Notebooks and
choosing the notebook you wish to open.
