Assistant/Associate Professor (Mathematics Education)

The Department of Mathematical Sciences seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Mathematics Education to join a large community of mathematics/science educators. Successful candidates are expected to have an active research program in Mathematics Education.

Responsibilities include directing undergraduate/graduate students' mathematics education research, developing/teaching mathematics education courses at various levels, and helping enhance recently-formed programs for in-service teachers.

A doctorate in Mathematics Education or Mathematics with extensive experience in mathematics education is required. Experience with doctoral programs, grant writing, and K-12 teaching are preferred.

Job and Research Opportunities for Math Majors

Job Opportunities for Mathematics/Statistics/MAT-Math Graduate Students: The Mathematical Sciences department was awarded a new grant from the Department of Education, MSEIP Program, for Cross Institutional Implementation of Supplemental Instruction. Present or future graduate students in the Mathematical Sciences department may apply for a TA/RA position to teach precalculus labs at EPCC under this grant. Interested Mathematics/Statistics/MAT-Math graduate students should contact Dr. Emil Schwab and download the SI Application form .

Research Opportunities for Undergraduates: Math majors are needed for a research-based Undergraduate Participation in Bioinformatics Training (UPBiT) program funded in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF Grant DUE-0926721). Stipends are available for math majors to participate in individualized 3-year training programs starting in the sophomore year. Activities include communication workshops, lab training, research rotations, field trips, conferences, and specialized bioinformatics research projects that will typically involve techniques in discrete math, linear algebra, optimization, probability, and statistics.
