UTEP's College of Science offers three year, part-time Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degrees for both Mathematics and Science.
The MAT program provides an opportunity for middle and high school teachers (or aspiring teachers) to earn an advanced degree taught at a level that will be of value in middle and high school classrooms.
Participants attend two evening and/or weekend classes during the fall and spring semesters.
Both degrees require 36 hours of coursework (the MAT in Mathematics also has a thesis option, which requires 24 hours od coursework plus 6 hours of thesis). Upon successful completion of this degree, teachers will be qualified to teach dual credit classes.
