Degree Requirements
MAT Science students choose a content emphasis area in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Science or Physics. Within each core content area participants take 18 credit hours.
Four of those courses are designed specifically for the MAT program. All participants must elect 2 additional courses from a menu of graduate science courses in their core content area to complete a total 18 credit hours. Nine credit hours of graduate level elective sciences from one of the content areas not chosen for emphasis Two research courses, SCI 5311 Classroom Research Methodology I and SCI 5312 Classroom Research Methodology II, are required of all participants in the program.
There are three tracks available to students in MATS.
In-Service Track (36 hours)

In-Service Track with Master Science Teacher Certification (48 hours - requires 3 years of teaching experience prior to certification)

Pre-Service Track (48 hours - requires concurrent enrollment in Alternative Teacher Certification)
