Everybody is invited to a workshop on:

Supplementary Matrix and Linear Algebra Materials by Piotr Wojciechowski.

The second of the three workshop series will introduce a group of modules (supported by Geometer's Sketchpad) and sample investigations that can be used to supplement lectures in matrix and linear algebra courses.

Materials are developed by a group of faculty members in the Mathematical Sciences Department at UTEP with the support of an NSF grant (CCLI #0737485).

Dr. Mariani comes to UTEP from New Mexico State University. Her areas of research are Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Finance, Mathematical Physics.

Mathematics graduate student Jennifer Hamlyn (BS Math, '09) and Statistics graduate student Angel Davalos (BS Math, '08) were selected to receive substantial "Bridge to the Doctorate" scholarships from the National Science Foundation, as part of a grant awarded to Dr. Helmut Knaust and Dr. Benjamin Flores (Electrical Engineering).

Bioinformatics Computing Laboratory (BCL), a new Core Facility of BBRC, was awarded funding from BBRC's NIH Grant #2G12RR008124 to establish bioinformatics research support services in the border region. Dr. Ming-Ying Leung is the BCL Core Director.

The Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) of UTEP obtained a new grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to 2014 in the amount of 12.3 million. The Statistical Consulting Laboratory (SCL) is a Core Unit of BBRC and was awarded $720,000 of support for the next five years. Dr. Moschopoulos, SCL director, is the PI in the BBRC/SCL project.

The Statistical Consulting Laboratory (SCL) was awarded a renewal of a yearly contract with The William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) of the US Army. The amount of the award is $76,000. Dr. Moschopoulos, SCL director is the PI in the SCL project, Dr. Julia Bader is the consultant.
