Creating, Compiling, Viewing, and Printing

One template for articles is: art-form.tex which can found and copied directly from the directory /usr/local/lib/tex/inputs on the Sun server or inserted in a file with tex extension by C-c as explained in section 2.1. The steps in creating, compiling, viewing, and printing an article are given below. Examples of articles and math expressions can be found in the appendix.

1.
Hit the F11 key from Epoch (or open Epoch as discussed) and enter the name of your file giving it a tex extension, i.e. research.tex.

2.
Input article template as discussed above by C-c followed by a.

3.
As an alternative, insert a previous article, possibly with the same author and edit it.

4.
The desired template will appear on your screen. Make the needed changes and type the body of your article. Articles longer than a couple pages, as in a thesis should be partitioned as in the example in the Appendix 5 and each part edited separately.

5.
Make the needed changes and type your paper. Produce a dvi file for your letter by Meta-F2. Then preview the article on the computer monitor by C-F2. Edit as required. To print the letter, drag and drop the article's dvi file to the printer of your choice on your print tool.
In the following parts of this section we take a quick look at Latex commands , mathematical formulas, and commonly used symbols and greek letters, and construct examples of math expressions and tables in latex.
