Discussion of Next Steps
·
About
40 participants attended the first session, 20 attended the second session, and
15 attended the third session.
·
Participants
are encouraged to join the professional network at http://habitsofmind.ning.com. This network is for mathematics
educators and researchers who are interested in the practice and research
related to mathematical habits of mind. Once you join the network, you can make
announcements, post comments, share information and resources, look for
collaborators, etc. This network shall serve as an avenue for us to communicate
and to network. Please invite your colleagues or friends to join the network.
·
Participants
in the third session felt that we should have another working group at the next
PMENA. Please contact Kien Lim (kienlim@utep.edu) if you wish to organize the next
working group.
·
There
was a suggestion that instead of having individual presentations on the first
session of the next PMENA working group, we can have researchers share
struggle(s) with their research on mathematical habits of mind.
·
If
you have any suggestions or comments, please post them at our network in the Discussion
Forum. Feel free
to initiate any topic for discussion.
·
Presentations
on Mathematical Habits of Mind at the 2008 and 2009 Joint Mathematical Meetings
are posted at http://www.math.utep.edu/Faculty/kienlim/hom.
